Following her high school graduation, Sevigny embarked on a modeling career and appeared in music videos for bands like Sonic Youth and The Lemonheads, which helped establish her as an “it girl.” In 1995, she made her cinematic debut in Kids, quickly becoming a leading figure in the indie film landscape throughout the late 1990s, with notable performances in films such as Trees Lounge (1996).
