Edward James Olmos

Edward James Olmos, born on February 24, 1947, is a distinguished American actor, director, producer, and activist renowned for his impactful contributions to film and television. He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Lieutenant Martin "Marty" Castillo in the iconic series Miami Vice (1984–1989), earning him a Primetime Emmy Award in 1985 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, along with a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Olmos’s impressive filmography includes memorable performances as Jaime Escalante, a dedicated educator in Stand and Deliver (1988), and as Detective Gaff in the classic sci-fi films Blade Runner (1982) and its sequel Blade Runner 2049 (2017). His directorial debut, American Me (1992), also showcased his multifaceted talent.
