Engin Akyürek

Engin Akyürek, born on October 12, 1981, is a prominent Turkish actor, screenwriter, and author. He embarked on his acting career in 2004 and has since appeared in numerous highly regarded television series and films, earning a reputation as one of Turkey's most successful and highest-earning actors.

Despite lacking formal training in acting for stage or screen, Akyürek's enthusiasm for writing and drama propelled him forward. He graduated from Ankara University, where he studied history in the language-history and geography faculty. His big break came when he participated in the television contest Türkiye'nin Yıldızları (Turkey's Stars), where he shared the spotlight with Beren Saat, who later became a renowned figure in Turkish television dramas. Akyürek's first major role was in the series Bir Bulut Olsam, where he portrayed Mustafa Bulut, captivating audiences with his remarkable performance.

He is celebrated for his leading roles in various TV dramas, including Kerim Ilgaz in Fatmagül'ün Suçu Ne?, Ömer Demir in Kara Para Aşk, and Sancar in Sefirin Kızı. His role as Ömer in Kara Para Aşk earned him the Best Actor award at the Seoul International Drama Awards in 2015 and a nomination for Best Performance by an Actor at the International Emmy Awards.

In addition to his television work, Akyürek has acted in films, making his cinematic debut in Kader as Cevat. He also portrayed Tekin in Bi Küçük Eylül Meselesi, a film written and directed by Kerem Deren. Furthermore, he serves as a brand ambassador for Shell and Disney+ Türkiye.
