Gail Maurice

Gail Maurice is a talented actor who is fluent in Cree and Michif, as well as an acclaimed filmmaker. She founded Assini Productions to showcase narratives featuring powerful Indigenous female characters. Gail consistently incorporates her linguistic heritage into her work, both in film and television.

In the film Night Raiders, she not only translated but also portrayed the character Ida. Additionally, she co-wrote and translated for the film Quebexit, in which she played the character Meetos. This work earned her the Best Screenplay award at the Whistler Film Festival in 2020.
