James Doherty

James Doherty, born on December 17, 1966, in Guildford, Surrey, is a talented English actor renowned for his work in television and theatre. He received his early education at Felsted School in Essex and became a member of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain. Doherty honed his craft at the Guildford School of Acting, from which he graduated in 1989. He is married to TV presenter Joanna Sinnott, and the couple shares two children, Jago (born 2006) and Nell (born 2013).

Doherty has made a significant mark in the realm of television comedy, featuring in acclaimed series such as The Thick of It, Veep, Rev, Miranda, The Windsors, and the BAFTA-winning Him & Her - The Wedding. His film credits include roles in Backbeat, Verity's Summer, Inbred, Deviation, London Road, and the Oscar-nominated In the Loop.

In addition to his television and film work, Doherty has graced the West End stage with performances in musicals like Les Misérables, The Buddy Holly Story, A Slice of Saturday Night, and Marguerite. He portrayed Amos Hart in the West End production of Chicago at the Cambridge Theatre in 2011, sharing the stage with Christie Brinkley, and later continued the role at the Garrick Theatre alongside America Ferrera.

Doherty's stage presence is also felt in productions at the National Theatre, including London Road, 50 Years on Stage, and Beyond Caring. In January 2020, he took on the role of Claude in the critically acclaimed musical Come From Away at the Phoenix Theatre in London.
