Jessica Phyllis Lange, born on April 20, 1949, is a distinguished American actress celebrated for her remarkable contributions to film, television, and theater. As the 13th performer to achieve the prestigious Triple Crown of Acting, her accolades include two Academy Awards, three Primetime Emmy Awards, a Tony Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and five Golden Globe Awards.
Her cinematic journey commenced with a striking debut in Dino De Laurentiis's 1976 adaptation of King Kong, which earned her the Golden Globe for New Star of the Year. In 1979, she showcased her talent in the musical film All That Jazz. Lange garnered her first Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress and a second Golden Globe for her role in Tootsie (1982), where she played a soap opera star. She also received nominations for her performances in Frances (1982), Country (1984), Sweet Dreams (1985), and Music Box (1989). Ultimately, she claimed her second Oscar and third Golden Globe for portraying a bipolar housewife in Blue Sky (1994).
In 2010, Lange earned her first Primetime Emmy for her role as Big Edie in HBO’s Grey Gardens (2009). From 2011 to 2014, she won numerous accolades for her work in American Horror Story, including two additional Emmys. Her stage success culminated in a Tony Award in 2016 for Long Day's Journey into Night.
