Joseph Gilgun

Joseph William Gilgun, born on March 9, 1984, in Chorley, Lancashire, is a celebrated English actor renowned for his diverse and impactful roles in television and film. He gained significant recognition as Vinnie O'Neill in the Sky One dramedy series **Brassic**, and as Eli Dingle in the popular ITV soap **Emmerdale**. Prior to these roles, he portrayed Jamie Armstrong on the long-standing ITV show **Coronation Street** and captured audiences as Woody in the critically acclaimed film **This Is England** (2006) and its spin-off series. Additionally, Gilgun showcased his talent as Rudy Wade in the E4 series **Misfits**. Between 2016 and 2019, he starred as Cassidy, the Irish vampire, in the AMC adaptation of the Vertigo comic **Preacher**.

Growing up in Rivington, Lancashire, in a working-class family, Gilgun faced challenges such as dyslexia and ADHD, which he candidly discusses in interviews alongside his experiences with depression and anxiety. His journey into acting began at eight, following the advice of an educational psychologist, leading him to various drama workshops.
