Kristen Johnston pursued her acting education at the Atlantic Theater Company Acting School located in New York City.

She garnered two Emmy Awards for her performance in the television series 3rd Rock from the Sun (1996). Over the years, she has made appearances in various other shows, including Ugly Betty (2006), ER (1994), and Bored to Death (2009). One of her most memorable moments on screen was in Sex and the City (1998), where she played a party girl known for her iconic line: "I'm so bored I could die." Currently, Johnston stars in TV Land's popular series, The Exes (2011), which is now in its fourth season.

On stage, her impressive credits include "So Help Me God!" (for which she received a Drama Desk nomination), "The Women," "Aunt Dan & Lemon," and "Love Song" in London's West End. Additionally, she has featured in three productions of "Shakespeare in Central Park," portraying roles in "Much Ado About Nothing," "Twelfth Night," and "The Skin of Our Teeth."
