Kristen Joy Schaal, born on January 24, 1978, is a multifaceted American actress, comedian, voice actress, and writer. She is widely recognized for her iconic voice roles, particularly as Louise Belcher on the animated series Bob's Burgers and Mabel Pines on Gravity Falls. Additionally, Schaal made her mark on television with memorable characters such as Mel in Flight of the Conchords, Hurshe Heartshe in The Heart, She Holler, and Carol Pilbasian on The Last Man on Earth. Her voice work also includes several characters in BoJack Horseman, where she notably voiced Sarah Lynn, earning a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance. Other notable roles include Amanda Simmons in The Hotwives of Orlando, Hazel Wassername in 30 Rock, and Trixie in the Toy Story series.

Born and raised in Longmont, Colorado, Schaal grew up in a Lutheran family with Dutch roots on a cattle ranch near Boulder. Her father worked in construction, and her mother was a secretary. After graduating from Skyline High School in 1996, she attended Northwestern University before relocating to New York in 2000 to chase her comedy dreams. Her big break came in 2005 when she was featured in a New York article titled "The Ten Funniest New Yorkers You've Never Heard Of." Schaal also lent her voice to the character Sayrna in the 2019 EA video game, Anthem.
