Laurence John Fishburne III, born on July 30, 1961, is a distinguished American actor celebrated for his powerful performances in both theater and film. A recipient of three Emmy Awards and a Tony Award, Fishburne is often cast in commanding and authoritative roles. He is perhaps most recognized for his iconic portrayal of Morpheus in The Matrix trilogy (1999–2003) and Jason "Furious" Styles in Boyz n the Hood (1991).
