Sir Roger George Moore KBE (14 October 1927 – 23 May 2017) was a distinguished English actor renowned for his portrayal of the iconic secret agent James Bond in the Eon Productions/MGM film series. He was the third actor to take on this legendary role, featuring in seven films from 1973 to 1985, making his Bond tenure the longest in the franchise's history, spanning from Live and Let Die to A View to a Kill.

In addition to his film career, Moore gained fame on television as Simon Templar in the British mystery series The Saint, which aired from 1962 to 1969. He also appeared in American television, taking on the role of Beau Maverick in the Western series Maverick (1960–1961) after succeeding James Garner, and co-starring with Tony Curtis in the action-comedy series The Persuaders! (1971–1972). Even after stepping away from the Bond series, Moore continued to act and made his last appearance in a pilot for a reimagined Saint series, which later evolved into a television film in 2017.

Moore dedicated part of his life to charitable work, being named a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 1991. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2003 for his charitable contributions and honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007. In 2008, the French government recognized him as a Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters.
