

Scatman Crothers
Benjamin Sherman "Scatman" Crothers (May 23, 1910 – November 22, 1986) was a multifaceted American entertainer whose talents spanned acting, singing, dancing, and music. Crothers gained widespread recognition for his role as Louie the Garbage Man on the beloved television series *Chico and the Man*, where he showcased his unique charm and comedic timing. He also left a lasting impression on audiences with his portrayal of Dick Hallorann in Stanley Kubrick's iconic horror film *The Shining* (1980), further solidifying his status in Hollywood.
In addition to his on-screen performances, Crothers was an accomplished voiceover artist, lending his distinctive voice to a variety of animated characters. He voiced Meadowlark Lemon in the animated series based on The Harlem Globetrotters, and brought to life Jazz the Autobot in the classic *Transformers* series. Perhaps one of his most memorable roles was as the title character in the animated series *Hong Kong Phooey*, and he also voiced Scat Cat in Disney’s 1970 animated feature *The Aristocats*.
