

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (pronounced /ˈjɑːhiə/; born on July 15, 1986) is a prominent American actor recognized for his dynamic performances across film and television. He gained significant acclaim for his portrayal of Black Manta in the superhero blockbusters Aquaman (2018) and its sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023). Additionally, he depicted Bobby Seale in the critically acclaimed Netflix historical legal drama, The Trial of the Chicago 7 (2020), and took on the roles of Morpheus and Agent Smith in The Matrix Resurrections (2021). His performance as Cal Abar/Doctor Manhattan in the HBO limited series Watchmen (2019) earned him a Primetime Emmy Award. He has also made guest appearances in notable series such as The Handmaid's Tale (2018) and Black Mirror (2019).
Abdul-Mateen made his Broadway debut in the play Topdog/Underdog, created by Suzan-Lori Parks, where he received a nomination for a Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Play.
Recently, he has entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe, playing the lead role in the Disney+ series Wonder Man. With a growing body of work, Abdul-Mateen continues to establish himself as a versatile and talented figure in the entertainment industry.
