Zoie Palmer, born on October 28, 1977, is a prominent Canadian actress celebrated for her compelling performances in television and film. She gained widespread recognition as Dr. Lauren Lewis in the supernatural drama Lost Girl and as the Android in the science fiction series Dark Matter.
Originally from Camborne, Cornwall, England, Palmer moved to Canada with her family at the age of ten. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Newmarket, Ontario, before earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from York University in Toronto in 2001. Her acting career commenced in her teenage years at the Red Barn Theatre in Jackson's Point, Ontario, where she performed in summer stock productions.
Following her graduation, Palmer found her footing in the Toronto theatre scene, featuring in notable plays such as The Crucible, The Importance of Being Earnest, and The Vagina Monologues. Her television career began with guest roles in series like The Border, Smallville, and The Listener.
In 2010, Palmer landed the role of Dr. Lauren Lewis in Lost Girl, a series that captivated audiences for five seasons and earned her multiple accolades, including a Canadian Screen Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series. In 2015, she portrayed the Android in Dark Matter, which ran for three seasons until its cancellation in 2017. Her performance garnered critical acclaim and another Canadian Screen Award nomination.
