Catherine Bell, a tall and athletic actress, was born in London, England, but relocated to Los Angeles with her mother during her childhood. Initially aiming for a pre-med degree in college, she opted to leave her studies behind to chase a modeling career in Japan. After completing various commercials, she returned to Los Angeles, where she began making guest appearances on television and taking on minor film roles. Notably, she served as Isabella Rossellini's nude body double in the 1992 film *Death Becomes Her*, a project that also led her to meet her future husband, Adam Deason.

Her career took a significant turn when she made a short guest appearance on NBC's *JAG*. Motivated by her experience, she penned a letter to the producers expressing her desire to be part of the show. In 1996, when *JAG* transitioned to CBS, she joined the cast as Major Sarah "Mac" Mackenzie, serving as the sidekick to Lt. Commander Harmon "Harm" Rabb, portrayed by David James Elliott. Bell's real-life skills as a kickboxer and snowboarder opened doors for her in action films like *Men of War*, *Crash Dive*, and *Black Thunder*. In 2000, she starred alongside Casper Van Dien in the sci-fi thriller *Thrill Seekers*, and in 2003, she ventured into comedy with *Bruce Almighty*.
