Stephen Harold Tobolowsky, born on May 30, 1951, in Dallas, Texas, is a distinguished American character actor celebrated for his versatile roles across film and television. After initially pursuing a degree in geology at Southern Methodist University, he discovered his passion for acting while performing in "The Crucible," prompting a shift to drama at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Tobolowsky's acting journey commenced in the early 1980s with appearances in films such as The Philadelphia Experiment (1984), Nobody's Fool (1986), and Spaceballs (1987). He gained widespread recognition for his memorable portrayal of Ned Ryerson in the iconic 1993 film Groundhog Day, which solidified his status as a prominent character actor in Hollywood. His extensive filmography also includes notable roles in Memento (2000), Mulholland Drive (2001), and The Informant! (2009).
