During a time marked by exclusion and the rise of the U.S. empire, a wave of new immigrants from China, India, Japan, the Philippines, and other regions arrives. Facing restrictive anti-Asian legislation, they become the nation’s initial “undocumented immigrants.” Despite these challenges, they contribute significantly by constructing railroads, captivating audiences in films, and challenging injustices as they take their quest for equality all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.
