After concluding their investigation into Alice's case in France, Kate and Michael are taken aback when Patrice Ganimana, a war criminal accused of involvement in the Rwandan Genocide, appears in the UK. Michael is eager to pursue legal action against him but feels uneasy upon discovering that his former adversary is representing Ganimana. This development also causes Alice Munezero to postpone her trip back to Rwanda. As complications arise regarding Ganimana's extradition to the International Criminal Court, the strain on Kate and Michael's relationship becomes increasingly evident.
