Jefferson Pierce is a man burdened by a hidden truth. As a dedicated father to Anissa and Jennifer, and the principal of a charter high school that provides refuge for youth in a gang-infested community, he is revered in his neighborhood. However, nearly a decade ago, he was known as a different kind of hero. With the extraordinary ability to manipulate electricity, he once patrolled the streets as the masked vigilante Black Lightning. Now, he believes those days of crime-fighting are over, but unforeseen events force him to reconsider his past.
