Ripley Holden, a charming and bold entrepreneur, throws an extravagant launch party for his new arcade in the heart of Blackpool, his cherished hometown. However, his excitement quickly fades when he stumbles upon the body of a young man on the premises. Eager to resolve the situation, Ripley collaborates with DI Peter Carlisle, the lead investigator. Unfortunately, Carlisle develops a strong aversion to Ripley and becomes fixated on proving him guilty. Adding to Ripley's stress are family troubles; his son Danny seems to be hiding something, and his daughter Shyanne introduces a problematic boyfriend—Ripley’s former classmate. When Ripley demands Shyanne end the relationship, she is devastated. Meanwhile, Carlisle finds himself attracted to Natalie, Ripley’s wife.
