Following the Dewanosuke debacle, Burando's repeated mistakes lead to his imprisonment in solitary by Habaki, driving him into madness. In his derangement, Burando uncovers a significant insight regarding the immortality experiments: that at their core, humans share similarities with otters. Meanwhile, Rin and Doua devise a plan to sneak into Edo Castle to save Manji and Isaku, who are trapped and in danger.
