S2E4 Headless Body: The Kim Barry Murder

May 29, 2008 Season 2 Episode 4 Crime, Documentary

In 1981, the dismembered body of 19-year-old Kim Narelle Barry was discovered in a remote area near a mountain lookout close to Wollongong, south of Sydney. Authorities later located her severed head and fingers in nearby bushland, revealing she had been brutally bludgeoned. Investigators uncovered that on the night of her death, Kim had been with a local miner, 24-year-old Graham Potter, who subsequently vanished. A nationwide search led to his capture, and he was found guilty of Kim Barry’s murder, receiving a life sentence. Despite his release in 1996 after 15 years, Potter continues to profess his innocence, with no clear motive ever identified.
