S3E5 Murder of Innocence-Sian Kingi

Jun 25, 2009 Season 3 Episode 5 Crime, Documentary

On November 27, 1987, 12-year-old Sian Kingi was abducted on her bicycle by Valmae Fay Beck and Barrie John Watts while returning home from school. The frightened girl was bound and silenced as Watts brutally assaulted her before taking her life in a horrific act. Six days later, a fruit picker stumbled upon Sian's lifeless body, still clad in her school uniform, in a creek. The investigation, spearheaded by Bob Atkinson, now the Queensland police commissioner, led to the apprehension of Beck and Watts at a motel on the NSW Central Coast weeks later. Authorities suspect their involvement in other murders, including those of Sharron Phillips, Stella Mary Farrugia, and Louise Bell. Watts was later convicted for the manslaughter of Helen Mary Feeney in 1995, with Beck testifying against him, although Feeney’s remains were never found
