S3E7 Michael Kanaan- Shoot To Kill
Michael Kanaan, an impulsive young man, was eager to carve out his place in Sydney's criminal scene. However, his quick temper and violent tendencies led him to murder three individuals before being apprehended in a fierce gunfight with local law enforcement. Born in Australia in 1975 to Lebanese immigrants, Kanaan was heavily influenced by the crime culture depicted in American films and music. As a teenager, he engaged in petty crimes, culminating in his first arrest for drug possession in his early twenties. After receiving a suspended sentence and a two-year good behavior bond, he soon found himself in trouble again for common assault, which resulted in just a fine. Kanaan quickly returned to drug dealing, where his gang, known as ‘DK’s boys,’ thrived in the lucrative cocaine trade in Kings Cross. By 1998, at just 23, he had risen to the rank of lieutenant under notorious crime figure Danny Karam.
