Les Kane, a docker and painter, was labeled by his wife Judi as "the most violent man in Australia." His notoriety skyrocketed when he waged war against notorious armed robber Ray Chuck, infamous for the 1976 Great Bookie Robbery. However, Chuck launched a deadly attack first, machine-gunning Les in front of his horrified family in their Wantirna residence. Les’s body was never found. His brother, Brian Kane, a reputed standover man, was killed in November 1982 at the Quarry Hotel, with mourners including the Moran clan. Judi reflects on her initial attraction to Les's bravado, which masked a darker side. Meanwhile, Billy Longley, a notorious figure from Melbourne's waterfront crime scene, was known as "The Texan" for his cowboy attire and penchant for firearms.
