As the fight rages on between Vox Machina and the Herd of Storms, the ancient black dragon Umbrasyl makes a strategic retreat to Gatshadow Mountain, having suffered serious injuries. With Scanlan Shorthalt and Vax'ildan ensnared within the dragon's body and Grog Strongjaw dangling from a chain linked to an axe lodged in Umbrasyl's tough hide, the group faces a critical decision. They must either pursue the wounded dragon into its den or hold back, hoping for a better chance to defeat it later.
