Leo Vincent, a celebrated chef, has built his career largely on recipes pilfered from his ex-wife, Gina Benelli, whom he betrayed during their marriage with his current partner, Sam. Sam, suspicious of infidelity, is indeed right about Leo's affair—with Gina. Meanwhile, Gina grapples with her rebellious daughter Teresa, who suffers from a rare water allergy. Tensions escalate during a party for their son Michael's eighteenth birthday when Sam uncovers the truth, leading to a furious confrontation. Instead of turning against each other, Gina and Sam find common ground, viewing Leo as the true antagonist, but both rush to support him after his attempted suicide.
