Luke finds himself troubled by recurring nightmares related to the accident that claimed his father's life, along with Galvin's involvement in it. After consulting a psychic, he starts to believe that his godfather may not be who he appears to be. Meanwhile, the return of Gladiolus Thrip, who exhibits a disturbing fascination with Luke's history, threatens to fracture the bond between the vampire-fighting pair.
