Due to budget cuts, Louis and Jessica find themselves coerced into volunteering at their children's schools. Eddie discovers a different aspect of his father when Louis, who once played semi-pro basketball in Taiwan, steps in to coach the basketball team. Meanwhile, Emery and Evan experience an unwelcome revelation about Jessica as she reluctantly agrees to produce their school play, injecting her own unique flair into the production.
