Eddie heads off to Taiwan for a cultural exchange program, brushing aside his parents' warnings about the challenges they faced when they arrived in America. Having been to Taiwan previously, he feels confident that nothing can go awry. However, things take a turn when he finds himself lost and alone, lacking both money and sufficient language skills. Back in Orlando, the Huang family grapples with life in Eddie's absence, trying to adapt to the new normal without him around.
