Eddie, eager to dodge Jessica's anger when the SAT scores come out, persuades Evan that he should seek help from their old classmate and spelling bee champion Simryn to secure a win at the state spelling bee. But when things take a turn for the worse and Evan starts to lose his confidence, Eddie receives valuable advice from Simryn's father. Meanwhile, Jessica and Louis encourage Emery to find a job, only to be taken aback by the unconventional choice he makes.
