The son of an Indian shaman, who has turned to Western medicine and become a doctor, is deeply troubled by the patients he cannot save. While searching through his father's belongings, he discovers a cursed rattle that grants him the power to heal the ill, but at the price of another person's life. When the doctor’s next patient turns out to be Vera, a friend of Micki’s, she faces a dire decision: save her friend at a horrific cost. In the end, the trio, along with the shaman father and his daughter, work together to break the curse. Tragically, the son loses his life, and the shaman vows to safeguard the rattle.
