Rachel and Phoebe strike up a friendship with a girl Joey is dating, encouraging him to take the relationship more seriously, although he is hesitant initially. Meanwhile, Ross is thrilled to learn that his doctoral dissertation is available at the university library. However, his excitement quickly fades when he realizes that students are using the paleontology section for more than just studying. Additionally, Monica unexpectedly encounters Janice, who uninvitedly decides to attend Monica's wedding, leaving both Monica and Chandler scrambling to find a polite way to uninvite her.
