Shiraishi encounters Ushiyama and Ienaga, who have survived the explosion, but keeps this information from Sugimoto. Meanwhile, Sugimoto’s team comes across Inkarmat, a wandering Ainu fortune teller whom Asirpa is skeptical of. Shiraishi decides to take Inkarmat to a horse race, and they successfully win two races based on her predictions. At the track, Kiroranke reunites with old acquaintances who pressure him to ride a horse and intentionally lose the race for a yakuza boss. Shiraishi places all his bets on the final race, which is ultimately won by Kiroranke, who stands up to the yakuza. In Barato, Ogata meets Hijikata and chooses to join his faction.
