Jan 10, 2014 Season 5 Episode 5 Documentary

As Michael Portillo approaches the final segment of his trek from a troubled area in Manchester to the elegance of a ducal estate in Derbyshire, he immerses himself in the sounds of Victorian England's mills and coal mines, joining a brass band in Honley. In Holmfirth, he uncovers a tragic event from the 1800s that sparked a surge in railway tourism. Upon reaching Chesterfield, Michael pays tribute to George Stephenson, the pioneer of the railway, before concluding his journey at Chatsworth, one of the first grand homes to embrace visitors arriving by train.
