While rummaging through an old trunk in the barn, Lisa discovers the diary of Lydia Plunkett, a traveling saleswoman for a corset company in 1898. Lydia finds herself drawn to Harry Wright, a competing salesman whose own career suffers due to her achievements. They eventually marry, and she takes on the role of president at the corset company, but finds herself dissatisfied with domestic life. Harry grows weary of their situation and decides to leave her. As Lisa delves deeper into the diary, Eb becomes captivated by the tale, while Oliver dismisses the sentimental romance with a scoff.
