Joanna is feeling anxious about her age and the monotony in her relationship with Statham, who attempts to bring excitement back into their lives through spontaneity—often using his recorder to get himself in the mood. His efforts take a turn when he suspects that tech-savvy ladies' man Lyndon Jones is trying to win Joanna over. Meanwhile, Mac learns that his ex-girlfriend Holly, who claimed she didn't want kids, is now expecting with her new partner. This news delights Guy, who uses it to get under Mac's skin, but he ends up facing his own demons as memories from boarding school resurface. Caroline, caught between her craving for cigarettes and the search for a new roommate, is far from enthusiastic about Angela being a potential candidate.
