Hetty delves into the enigmatic world of Maurika Rome, a spiritualist accused of exploiting the bereaved through séances and blackmail to siphon their savings. Complications arise when a woman appears, asserting she is the illegitimate daughter of Hetty's invented spouse and demanding money. Meanwhile, Geoffrey’s secret relationship with Sara, Rome's daughter, jeopardizes Hetty's meticulous plan and nearly drives him to leave the agency.
