Thanks to the navigators, Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio reach Zaban City, where the exam is taking place. Their guide brings them to a quaint little restaurant, which turns out to be a facade for the actual venue. They discover an elevator hidden behind what appears to be a back room, which descends a hundred floors underground. Once they arrive, they encounter the other candidates and receive their participant numbers. Among them is Tonpa, a seasoned contestant who boasts about his 35 unsuccessful attempts at the exam.
