One night, in a dark alley, Lily is confronted by a man who refers to himself as "the ugly man." He reveals he knows a troubling amount about her and accuses her of betrayal, despite her belief that she doesn’t recognize him. He ominously threatens her life, stating he will kill her at midnight on an upcoming night. In response, Dan and Johnny take it upon themselves to keep a constant watch over her, ensuring one of them is by her side around the clock while they attempt to track down this mysterious figure. Eventually, a saloon girl shares a crucial secret that sheds light on the enigma surrounding the man.
