The department is struggling to cope with the recent exit of Deputy Chief Brenda Lee Johnson, making it challenging for Captain Sharon Raydor, the new head of Major Crimes, to find her footing. However, there's no time for her to settle in as the team scrambles to negotiate a plea deal following a series of deadly grocery store heists. Detective Amy Sykes, an undercover officer and military veteran, proves instrumental in the investigation and is brought over to Major Crimes. Simultaneously, Raydor takes decisive action to safeguard Rusty Beck after he decides to leave his foster home.
