Hal and Lois set off for a convention, leaving the boys at home with a babysitter. Malcolm, Reese, and Dewey expect another elderly woman to look after them, so they plan a series of pranks, including a makeshift trap with a covered sewer tank. To their astonishment, their babysitter turns out to be a attractive teenage girl named Patty. Although she’s kind, she harbors resentment due to being rejected by Francis because of her weight. This fuels a competition among the boys to see who can win her over and prove Francis wrong without going all the way. Meanwhile, at the convention, Lois struggles to mediate the escalating conflict between Hal and Jack, who has taken credit for Hal's idea.
