Dewey's rabbit shines in a state competition, earning the family a trip to Las Vegas for the national event. However, Reese accidentally sells the rabbit to a restaurant, leaving Dewey to rescue his pet with some unexpected help from a "choking" Reese. Meanwhile, Malcolm confides in Hal and Lois that he’s embarrassed by them, which is why he kept his state science honors a secret. To make it up to them, he scores fantastic concert tickets for Lois to see her favorite singer. She ends up backstage, hoping to understand why Malcolm prefers to keep his distance. Meanwhile, Hal is on a quest across Las Vegas searching for a slot machine that has haunted his dreams with promises of a jackpot. Francis, dealing with trouble at the ranch, realizes for the first time that Otto isn't as easygoing as he thought.
