Mister Rogers begins the episode by explaining that his role is to create television shows for children. As the camera zooms out, viewers see the behind-the-scenes of the Mister Rogers' Neighborhood studio. He introduces his friends Johnny Costa, Bobby Rawsthorne, and Carl McVicker before heading back to his familiar television space to discuss the process of writing music. He performs "It's You I Like" and reflects on the various types of work children engage in. Later, he opens a case revealing puppets from the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, just as Mr. McFeely arrives with a collection of photos showcasing Fred Rogers' past sets and puppets.
