Lunge, having received a postcard from Lipsky, makes his way to Ruhenheim, where he reunites with Grimmer, who has also come to investigate the town. Meanwhile, a working-class couple discovers they've won the lottery. Paranoid about the potential threats from others who might want to harm them for their newfound wealth, the husband decides to stockpile a variety of weapons for protection.
