While heading to the Land of Lightning, Naruto's ship is engulfed by a fierce storm. Once they emerge, they find themselves face-to-face with a brutal band of pirates who aim to sink their vessel and capture them. Yamato uses a Wood jutsu to protect the ship, allowing them to escape in a submersible, which soon breaks apart. They end up in an underwater cave beneath an island previously overtaken by pirates. The island's inhabitants had sought refuge in the caves, but all perished. Fueled by their fate, Naruto vows to avenge them. With a clever strategy, he and the ship are propelled out of the volcano's peak using hot springs, and he successfully defeats the pirates.
