Yamato restrains Kisame so that Aoba can extract valuable information. Just as Aoba is about to discover Tobi's true identity, Kisame wakes himself up by biting off his own tongue. Breaking free from his bindings, he conjures a water dome around himself. Reflecting on Itachi's words about revealing one's true self in death, Kisame, recognizing his weakness, summons sharks and lets them consume him to keep his enemies from gaining intel. His resolve leaves a lasting impression on the others. However, when they examine the scroll Kisame meant to deliver, they find it’s a trap, trapping them in water prisons as a summoned shark swims away with the crucial information.
