Konan traps Tobi in a deep pit filled with explosive tags that erupt over a large area. However, Tobi survives using his Izanagi technique, sacrificing one of his eyes, and strikes Konan from behind. He explains his abilities to her, but she remains determined to continue fighting. Ultimately, Tobi overpowers her and casts a genjutsu to extract the location of the Rinnegan. Afterward, he heads to retrieve Nagato's lifeless body. Meanwhile, a bloodstained piece of paper, caught by the wind, drifts back to Konan's childhood hideout, unveiling memories of the Ame Orphans and their time with Jiraiya. In a new outfit, Tobi learns from Zetsu that Kisame has located the Nine-Tails, prompting him to announce his intent to capture it.
