Natsume learns that the treasured "Book of Friends," gifted to him by his grandmother Reiko, contains the names of the spirits she had vanquished and bound to her service. With the help of a cat he calls Nyanko-Sensei (which means Master Little Meow), Natsume sets out on a journey to return each name to its rightful spirit.
