As Natsume and Nyanko-sensei play in the snow, they encounter Gen, a forest guardian residing within a statue. Gen attempts to possess Natsume's body but ends up taking control of a snow rabbit that Natsume crafted. Desperate, Gen asks Natsume for assistance in locating an evil spirit responsible for the destruction of his guardian partner, Sui, and Natsume consents to help.
